I trained at Kingston School of Art and after gaining a Degree in Fine Art and Illustration I went on to work as an artist for the American publisher Doubleday in London.
A move to Dorset gave me an opportunity to illustrate children’s books and the coastal landscape was the inspiration to paint and draw my surroundings.
After many years
I trained at Kingston School of Art and after gaining a Degree in Fine Art and Illustration I went on to work as an artist for the American publisher Doubleday in London.
A move to Dorset gave me an opportunity to illustrate children’s books and the coastal landscape was the inspiration to paint and draw my surroundings.
After many years working as an artist for the MOD near Winchester I continued to paint while raising a family.
During this time I held a solo exhibition at The Theatre Royal and my work was chosen in a national competition for exhibition at The Mall Galleries in London. Later I exhibited in France and here in Hampshire with the 2D3D group of artists.
Drawing directly from life is fundamental and underlies my artwork. Inspiration derives from a diverse range that attracts my attention, maybe the light, colour, contrast or complexity.
Historical changes to our surroundings often create mood and atmosphere that I hope to convey with pattern, line, colour, texture and light as well as the relation of one shape to another.
